Family

The Lloyd family consist of David, Donna, Caleb and Madilyn. We are just like any other family and are trying to make the most of our lives. The post found within this section are about our everyday life from my point of view and maybe an occasional musing from David.

Giving to others

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

When Caleb was around 2 years old we decided to start buying Christmas presents for children who were less fortunate than him. Each year we pick names off of the Angel Tree and buy gifts for children that might not otherwise receive anything for Christmas. We try to find children close in age to our own kids so that they will learn from shopping for someone else who is about their age. (more…)

Give me this….

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

“Give me this, I want that…” I hear so much of this during the holiday season that it is troubling. During this time of year David and I focus on the true meaning of the Christmas–  the birth of our savior. We try very hard to teach our children that Christmas is not about how much stuff you get.  (more…)

The Thankfulness Journey

“The road of life twist and turns and no two directions are ever the same, yet our lessons come from the journey not the destination.” Don Williams, Jr.

The past 25 days in which I have posted my series entitled “25 Days of Thankfulness” has been a marvelous journey for me. During the past 25 days I have focused on the good in my life and have resisted thinking about the negative things in my life. I have dug deep into my soul to discover the things in life in which I am truly thankful. (more…)

Good health and good sense are two of lives greatest blessings- Publilus Syrus

Today I am thankful for the continued good health of my family.

Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories and Love.- Author Unknown

Today I am thankful for Grandparents. I have many fond memories of the three grandparents I was fortunate enough know. Thankfulness Day 17

Some of my favorite memories consist of past family vacations. The funny incidents, the little mishaps, the closeness shared, all these weaved a good story for my heart.  And whenever I want to revisit those memories, I’ll just shut my eyes and I’m there once again…(Unknown) (more…)

Thankfulness Day 16

A man who denies his past is a man who truly denies himself a future, for he refuses to know himself.– Tobsha Learner

Today I am thankful for my past, for without the events of my childhood, teen and young adult life I would not be the person I am today. When I think about all of the events of the past there is one defining moment that changed the course of my life forever. That event was going to live at  “The Home.” (more…)

Nothing is as precious as one’s freedom. Dreams, aspirations, and ideals mean nothing if one does not have the freedom to pursue them.– Simran Khurana

Today I am thankful for the freedoms that I have as an American woman. I am thankful that I was born into a country that does not oppress me simply because of my gender. (more…)

“I’d do it again you know? Us, you, me the kids, all of it. I’d do it again. I’d choose you every time. “- Phil Foster from the movie “Date Night”

Today, I am thankful for Date Night’s. Sometimes it is hard to get away and have a night just for me and David. Work, kids, school, and everything else in life gets in the way of our spending quality time together. (more…)
