Family

The Lloyd family consist of David, Donna, Caleb and Madilyn. We are just like any other family and are trying to make the most of our lives. The post found within this section are about our everyday life from my point of view and maybe an occasional musing from David.

It’s Official I’m Dating

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

About a month ago I made the statement, “I am so glad I am not in the dating stage of life anymore.” This statement was made because a few friends were talking about how hard the dating scene is and  that it seems like Mr. Right will never come along. My cousin Lisa was quick to inform me that I am in the dating stage… I have just been dating the same man for 21 years. After thinking about it for a few minutes I had to agree with her.  Dating does not end once the “I do’s” are said.

Family Dinner Planning~Working Moms

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

Shortly after Caleb was born I realized that being a working mom is hard. It is difficult to stay organized, raise children, and work all at the same time.  Being a mom and full time employee takes PLANNING. One of the most difficult parts of our life to plan is dinner. With two adults, an active teen, and toddler in the home it is often hard to plan meals that fit our busy schedule. (more…)

Memories from Christmas

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

Recently I was reflecting on Christmases I had as a child. I was trying to remember the gifts that I had received during my childhood. I thought long and hard and I could only remember a handful of gifts. These gifts were not really special or significant in any way they are just somehow stuck in my memory. I remember getting a Moppet’s secret dollhouse, an AM/FM portable radio, and a monopoly game. I could not remember any other gifts I had received as a young girl. I remember a few items I received as a teen; my first pair of gold earrings, a black jewelry box, and a set of Alice Walker books. I know I received many more gifts. (more…)

5 Reasons not to send Christmas Letters

Monday, December 19th, 2011

In my entire adult life I have only sent out two Christmas letters. The first time I did it because it was the “new” tradition that others in my circle of friends had started. I felt like since all my friends were doing it I needed to follow suit. Boy was I wrong, I can hear my mom asking me, “If all your friends jumped of f a cliff would you follow them?” The second year I wrote the letter because I felt like people expected me to do again since I had done it the previous year. I am the type of person who does not like to disappoint and always want to live up to the expectations of others,I am working on changing that. When the third year rolled around our family was in such a crisis and had had the worst year ever I just did not feel that I could write a letter that would be honest and joyful so I decided I was done with Christmas letters.
