Family

The Lloyd family consist of David, Donna, Caleb and Madilyn. We are just like any other family and are trying to make the most of our lives. The post found within this section are about our everyday life from my point of view and maybe an occasional musing from David.

We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

I don’t pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the things you might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.– Author Unknown (more…)

Its the small things…

Friday, February 10th, 2012

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that bring a smile to my face. This morning on the way to work, Madilyn got all excited and began to talk about how beautiful the pink and blue sky looked. (more…)

Working Mom Grocery Shopping Tips

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

“The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one.” – Erma Bombeck

My most dreaded chore of the week is grocery shopping. I sometimes feel overwhelmed at the task of taking an empty cart and filling it with things my family will eat during the next week. (more…)

Lloyd Weekly

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

January 2012 has come and gone. So far winter has failed to visit us here in Georgia. I am not complaining, because winter is my least favorite month. It just seems strange to have fall and spring like weather when it should be cold. (more…)

The Simple Things.

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Today I am linking up with the Ladies at The Simple Woman’s Daybook to just reflect on my life right now in this minute. It is relaxing and uplifting to just sit and think about the simple things and times in our lives. Everyone needs to take time out to simply enjoy the simple things. (more…)

Pro-Lifers sometimes confuse me

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

I am pro-life. I do not believe that women should kill their unborn children. I have a deep conviction that all life is precious and that life begins at the moment of conception. Most people who hold the stance of being pro-life also hold these same convictions. (more…)

Kids schedules running your life?

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

You are worried about seeing him spend his early years in doing nothing.  What!  Is it nothing to be happy?  Nothing to skip, play, and run around all day long?  Never in his life will he be so busy again.  ~Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Emile, 1762

In our home we do not over schedule our children or let their schedules rule our lives. Often parents spend all of their free time playing taxi driver to children. Many parents I know live life in a fog taking children from one extra curricular activity to the next. (more…)

Work Holidays

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

I was looking forward to having Monday off just to do nothing. Yes, a girl can dream but I knew before the holiday that it would not be a real “day off.”

Work holidays are no day off for the working parent. Those of you who work full time and have kids know that these so called “work holidays” are far from holidays. (more…)

7 Tips for Staying Married

Monday, January 16th, 2012

David and I have been married forever. Okay, it has not been forever but it has been a long time, especially in current society where marriage is temporary for so many couples.  We are sneaking up on 21 years of wedded bliss. Sometimes I can not believe that so much time has passed since we stood before a judge and said our vows. We married young after only knowing each other for nine months. Many people are surprised that we have somehow managed to not only stay married but happily married. (more…)

Lloyd Weekly Update

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Not much is happening with the Lloyd Family this week. It was kind of nice to sit back and just roll along without to much going on. Really the only update for the week is that we finally decided what we are going to do for our Spring Break during the 1st week of April. (more…)
