Family life is a bit like a runny peach pie – not perfect but who’s complaining? ~Robert Brault

The Lloyd family consist of David, Donna, Caleb and Madilyn. We are just like any other family and are trying to make the most of our lives. The post found within this section are about our everyday life from my point of view and maybe an occasional musing from David.

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. ~Roy L. Smith
Today I am thankful for Christmas. Because of the birth of Jesus we have so much to live for. I am thankful to know that God loves us so much that he sent his son to live among us and to die for our sins. Not only did he die a horrible death but he had a glorious resurrection. (more…)
~Arthur Rubinstein The seasons are what a symphony ought to be: four perfect movements in harmony with each other.
How boring life on earth would be if we only had one season. Today I am thankful that we do have several seasons throughout the year. I am thankful that I live in an area of the county that distinctly experiences all four of the unique seasons throughout the year. (more…)
A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves – a special kind of double. ~Toni Morrison
Today I am thankful for my five sisters. We may fuss, fight, and disagree but in the end all that matters is that we are sisters. Sisters are the people in which you confide your hopes, dreams, and reality. Sisters are the people who will listen to you even when they have a “to do list” that is three miles long. Sisters are the people that you learn to depend on when everything in life seems to be going wrong. Sisters are the people who can look you straight in the eye and tell you that you are being stupid and you need to get your head screwed back on right. Sisters are the people that you can dislike one moment and love the next. (more…)
I want to be a grown up when I grow up ~Madilyn to Ms. Kayla
Today I am thankful for the wonderful day care center we have for Madilyn. We have been blessed to have found a local child care provider who has been part of our lives since Madilyn was 7 weeks old. The owner and teachers are hands on and have a desire to not only care for the children but to help them learn and to build relationships with families. (more…)
The greatest wealth is health. ~Virgil
Today I am thankful for the good health of my family. We are so blessed to be a family unit that rarely experiences illness. Caleb is 15 and I can count the times he has been truly ill on one hand. Madilyn had us worried about her health for the first year of her life. However, the past two years she has been a perfectly healthy child.

Today I am thankful for family time. I really missed my family while I was in graduate school. It seemed like I always had a paper to write, project to finish, or reading to do. (more…)
Each year it seems to take less time to fly across the ocean and longer to drive to work. ~Author Unknown
Today I am thankful for my short commute to work. I an hour or more to get to work I feel like I am in heaven. I love working in the community in which I live. I also love the extra time I have since I am not spending hours on the road each day. (more…)
“You must gain control over your money or the lack of it will forever control you.” ~ Dave Ramsey
Today I am thankful for financial peace. In today’s economy I am even more thankful that I have made peace with my finances. Early in our marriage David and I made unwise financial decisions. The decisions we made forced us to have to live pay check to pay check. A lack of money caused our lives to be full of stress and worry. For years, I felt like we were in a downward spiral that would never change direction. (more…)
