Family

The Lloyd family consist of David, Donna, Caleb and Madilyn. We are just like any other family and are trying to make the most of our lives. The post found within this section are about our everyday life from my point of view and maybe an occasional musing from David.

Thankfulness~ Day 4

Friday, November 4th, 2011

“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank…but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child.” — Forest Witcraft

Today I am thankful that I am a teacher. I love that I get to do a job that I enjoy. I am so thankful that I do not have to work at a job that I hate and dread going to each day. I love seeing my students after they graduate and hearing about their success in life after high school. It makes my heart sing when a former student tells me how much they appreciate how I taught them, and how they could  tell I really cared about them. (more…)

Thankfulness~ Day 3

“Graduation is a time of completion, of finishing, of an ending, however, it is also a time of celebration of achievement and a beginning for the new graduate.” — Catherine Pulsifer

Today I am thankful to have finished graduate school. When I decided to go back to school in 2007 to pursue a Master’s Degree I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had not been a student since my prior graduation from Lee College in 1995. Last time I was in school, I was in my early 20’s, a newly wed with no children and no full time job. I found out quickly that is is so much harder to go to school while trying to be a wife, mother, and full time professional employee. (more…)

While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about. ~Angela Schwindt

Today I am thankful for my children, Caleb and Madilyn. My children have brought so much happiness and joy into my life. My only complaint about them is that they are growing up way to fast. I wish that they would slow down and not be in such a hurry to grow up. (more…)

Thankfulness~ Day 1

“I’d do it again you know? Us, you, me the kids, all of it. I’d do it again. I’d choose you every time. “- Phil Foster from the movie “Date Night”

Today, I am thankful for David, my wonderful husband and the marriage that we have built together. We have been married 20 and 1/2  years. I know we do not look old enough to have been married that long. But it is true we have been together for just over 2 decades~ man that makes me sound old.  Guess what, I would do it all again. Amicalola Falls

Monday, October 31st, 2011

We had a beautiful day this past Saturday. My sister Deanna and Brother-in-Law Josh were in town for the weekend and the weather was perfect for being outdoors. Since it was the peak of the fall season we decided to take a trip up to Amicalola Falls. We took the scenic route to the falls and enjoyed the county roads and abundance of fall colors. The weather was perfect for a hike and day of family fun. (more…)

24 Days of Thankfulness

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.  ~Epictetus

On November 1, I am starting a blog post series called “24 Days of Thankfulness“.  I did this series last year and it really helped me to focus on being thankful for all of the great things in my life. The purpose in doing this series again is to help me to refocus on the blessings that I have in life. I truly do live a blessed life. Sometimes it is hard to remember all of the blessings I have. It is so easy to focus on the negative things in life that often times I forget how blessed I truly am. (more…)

I am loving the fall weather and have enjoyed some beautiful sunrises and fall colors on the way to work this week. The orange in the morning sky has been especially vivid the past several mornings.   The cooler days have helped to create perfect fireplace weather. I have enjoyed sipping hot chocolate in front of the fire place while reading for pleasure on more than one occasion this week. (more…)

A Train Ride

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

“Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.” Elizabeth Lawrence

This past Saturday we went on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. At the start of our journey the fall air was crisp and cool, but not cold. By the end of our train ride the air was warmer but not too warm. Perfect weather mixed with perfect fall colors made for a perfect day. (more…)
