Family

The Lloyd family consist of David, Donna, Caleb and Madilyn. We are just like any other family and are trying to make the most of our lives. The post found within this section are about our everyday life from my point of view and maybe an occasional musing from David.

Madilyn- October 2011

This weekend Madilyn carried on with our newest family tradition of having a painted pumpkin as our kitchen table center piece. She was super excited to paint the pumpkin. I have had several people ask me how this came to be a tradition. It was not really planned but turned out to be so much fun that we decided to make it a Lloyd family tradition. In life it is truly the simple spontaneous things that can lead to treasured family traditions.   (more…)

Apple Picking Fun

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

We had beautiful weather this past weekend. The leaves are just starting to change into their stunning fall colors. It was a perfect day to spend time with family out doors. It was also a perfect day for a drive into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains to visit our favorite orchard, Mercier.    (more…)

Busy Weekend….

Monday, October 10th, 2011

We have had such a great family weekend. It was super busy but fun. It seems like it has been forever since we had nothing to do but hang out for an entire weekend. I is so nice that we can spend so much time together now that I am done with school. I am so glad that I have tomorrow off as a furlough day, because I need to rest a little before starting a new work week.

Week in review

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

I can not believe it is already October. This year seems to be flying by. I love the weather we have had during the past few days. It is cool in the morning and warm in the afternoons. I also enjoy the  sunrises that we have in October. They seem to be more beautiful than the others we have during the rest of the year. The leaves are slowly starting to turn into bright reds and oranges making a beautiful sight. I think a family road trip to see the fall color change needs to be planned. (more…)

Week in Review

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

I think Fall has officially arrived. Fall is my favorite season. I love seeing the trees on fire with color and the feeling the crispness of the air. My fall wreath is hung and my dinning room table has been dressed for the season. (more…)

I’m Back

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

It has been awhile since my last post. I have struggled with my decision to continue to blog or to stop blogging. For now I have decided that I will continue to blog. Today as I write I can honestly say it feels good to be writing again. I have to admit I want to lie and say I have not blogged because I have been too busy, but I’ll stick with the truth.   (more…)

Smells and Memories

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains-  Diane Ackerman

I have truly enjoyed my weekends this July and August. My family and I have found ourselves at the lake a lot. I love boarding the boat, getting sun lotion on, and making sure Madilyn is safe and secure as we pull away from the dock.  The wind in our hair, the sun on our faces, and the high pitched screams of joy coming from Madilyn as we race down the lake is priceless. You can’t beat a swim and picnic at the lake on a hot Georgia summer Saturday. (more…)

In a blink….

Friday, August 19th, 2011

There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings.- Hodding Carter.

On the first day of school I saw a mom taking pictures of her small child in front of the local elementary school. It was likely a photo of his very first day of Kindergarten. I glanced over at my own son, and thought, it has all  happened in a blink.  He went from being a little boy to an almost grown man. My next thought was, “before I know it he will be in college, married, and have a family of his own.” (more…)

Slowing Down

Saturday, July 30th, 2011

After five years going non-stop trying to be super mom, wife, teacher, and honor graduate student I have come to realize that it REALLY is okay to slow down. Most of us are guilty of rushing through our days and not taking time to enjoy life. We have a drive that forces us to move at the speed of light just to get to the next item on our to do list. Recent Medical Issues

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

I would like to thank all of you who have kept me and my family in your thoughts and prayers during the past few weeks. I am feeling much better but still have a ways to go before I am back to 100% health. I really appreciate all of the friends who have offered kind thoughts, prayers, meals, and other help during this time. I am amazed by the people who have made me feel loved and cared for during this difficult and painful time. (more…)
