homeMay the roof above us never fall in and may we good companions beneath it never fall out.  ~Irish Blessing

Today I am thankful for my home. I love the place that David and I call home. I don’t love it because it is big or because we have a great view. I love it because of all of the memories we have made while living here. (more…)

oakleafOh, honey, God don’t care which church you go, long as you show up! ~Robert Harling, Steel Magnolias

Today I am thankful for Oak Leaf Church.  Last year at this time we once again found ourselves looking for a new place of worship. I have always disliked the process of finding a new church. After a few weeks visiting Oak Leaf we knew we had found our new  home. We settled in very quickly and have come to love the people in this church. It seems like we have been attending here for much longer than just a year.

What I love about Oak Leaf (more…)

In August of 1990 I met the love of my life. I am thankful for each and everyday that we get to share together. We are halfway through our 23rd year of marriage and each year is better than the year before.  (more…)

sign-success-and-failure-1133804-mI have spent the past several days letting you into my work world and telling you what I see as a teacher in a public school. I felt that I needed to post those post because my Facebook timeline was filled with post full of hate toward the public school system, its teachers, students and parents. I could not  believe some of the post people  were posting.  I try not to take post against public education personally, but sometimes it is really hard.  (more…)

What I See…(Parents)

Friday, October 24th, 2014

datenightThe news is filled with stories of parents not being parents. Sometimes I read news stories in shock and wonder how is this person or that person able to be a parent. I don’t think I have ever seen a news story profiling awesome parents. Of course the news is filled with parent fails, people like to read those and judge the parents and say, “I would never do that.”  People would not be nearly as interested in stories about successful parents. What I See… (Students)

FriendsOur metro news stations have been running headlines concerning fights in public schools and how our schools are full of  out of control students. I laughed when I read the online comments from the public deeming “all” of the youth of America to be out of control “thugs“. I work with teens everyday and it has been a long time since I have encountered an out of control student. (more…)
