My total grocery bill today was $173.54 prior to BOGO and coupons. I paid $120.09 for a savings of $53.45. I could have done much better if I would have stayed out of the deli. I spent $20.86 on deli lunch meat when I could have purchased pre-packed meat for much less. I don’t feel too bad about it since I don’t make a habit out of buying deli meats, it is a once in a while treat that the family enjoys. I actually had to pay for toothpaste for the first time in over a year, because I forgot to clip the coupon I needed. (more…)

We enjoyed our time as a family on this long weekend. The weather was perfect. It was nice for us to be able to get away and relax for a few days without the worries of everyday life getting in the way of our having a little bit of fun. (more…)
Labor Day Weekend- Day 3
Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
Once again we spent our morning at the Wilderness of the Smokies water park. Madilyn became a little more adventuresome this morning and decided she would go down the slide. Madilyn loves animals so we thought it would be fun to take in a dinner show at the Dixie Stampede. (more…)
Labor Day Weekend- Day 2
Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
Madilyn was up bright and early wanting to have a swimming day. She loves to play in the water. We headed down to the water park and stayed until lunch and nap time. When Madilyn got up from her nap we headed into town. The past several times we have gone to Pigeon Forge Caleb has wanted to visit WonderWorks so we decided that we would visit the only upside down attraction in Pigeon Forge. (more…)
Labor Day Weekend- Day 1
Monday, September 6th, 2010
We decided to take advantage of the Labor Day weekend and take a trip up to Pigeon Forge, TN. Last time we went we all enjoyed the “Wilderness of the Smokies Resort” so we decided to stay there again. We left town around 2 on Friday afternoon and made it to Pigeon Forge around 6:30. Madilyn was so excited when she realized we were going to have a “swimming day.”
We spent some time at the indoor water park and then called it a night.
Guilt- Devotional
Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Recently I have had several conversations with people who are experiencing guilt because of their actions in the past. I too often struggle with my own self-inflicted guilt. Feelings of guilt are part of human nature and often times hard to overcome. Feelings of guilt are especially difficult to overcome when others in your life remind you of your past and refuse to forgive you or let you let go of your guilt. During these times we must embrace the words found in Acts 13 and know that we have been forgiven and we are free from all guilt.
Verse: In this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins everyone who believes in him is freed from all guilt and declared right with God (Acts 13:38-39).
Those who remind you of your past sins will not be the one to judge you on the final day of judgement. God alone will be your judge. Once you have asked God for forgiveness you are free from your sins and guilt. Our feelings of guilt do not come from God but from Satan. God wants us to live a life of freedom and forgiveness. Satan wants us to live a life dwelling on our past sins, so that we do not feel the forgiveness and comforting of our savior. When feelings of guilt overpower you seek God and know that you have been forgiven and in his eyes you are guiltless.
Why Adopt?
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
When David and I were planning and working toward adoption the question that made me cringe the most was “Why would you adopt instead of having your own child?” (more…)
Shopping, School & Home Improvements
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
This past week has been busy, mostly with shopping. Madilyn has been growing like a little weed these past few weeks and most of her clothing is too tight for her to wear comfortably. We spent a lot of time this week shopping for some clothing items that she could wear now and transition into fall with. Finding these types of clothing items is difficult since it is still pretty hot here. Madilyn had a blast trying on shoes and clothing. She acted like a little model leaving the dressing room to show daddy and whoever else would look at her what she had tried on. We may be in for some trouble when she gets older. (more…)
The Book of Eli- Devotional
Monday, August 30th, 2010
Recently we watched “The Book of Eli.” For those of you who have not seen the movie it is pretty good but does have some violence and language. The movie is set in a destitute world where everyday life is a struggle about 30 years after a war. At the end of the war every Bible was destroyed except for one. Eli is on a mission to get the Bible to safety. Carnegie is on a mission to have the only copy in his possession so that he can have access to the powerful words within its pages in order to rule the world. Despite the violence and language in the movie it spoke to me of the importance of hiding God’s word in my heart. (more…)
