Our kid free vacation ended today. We decided to take the long way home in order to stop by Mercier Orchards. We wanted to pick up a few goodies for ourselves and for my sister as a thank you for staying with the kids. It was a beautiful day for a drive in the North Georgia Mountains. I had never been to Mercier Orchards and was impressed with the large selection of goods they had to choose from. (more…)

We started our day with a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, croissants, and quiche in the gazebo. Once again it was nice to have a meal without rushing. After breakfast we got around and went shopping in the Dahlonega Square. There were a lot of cute shops to visit. We had lunch at Caruso’s Italian Restaurant. They make their own pizza crust daily and the pizza tasted awesome. (more…)

We started our morning with a breakfast of French toast, fresh fruit, and strawberries in the Lily Creek Lodge Bed and Breakfast Tree House. It was such a relaxing place to start the day. After breakfast we headed to the pool to lounge around. It is unfortunate that I needed to do some reading for a paper that I have due early next week. So while I read my not so fun technical reading, David read a Stephen King book. It has been forever since he has had time to read for pleasure. (more…)

Being the sneaky parents we are we waited until Madilyn went down for her nap to leave for our kid free vacation. We started our day at the outlet malls in Dahlonega. We had lunch at Long Horn and then headed over to Lily Creek Lodge Bed and Breakfast. Our room is very comfortable. It is a little weird being the only guest at the lodge. However, being the only guest makes for nice quiet surroundings.

David and I are headed out for a few days of peace and relaxation. I am very thankful to my sister, Deanna for coming to take care of the kids so that David and I can enjoy a few days away. I love my kids, but David and I need some time to focus just on the two of us. We are going to stay at Lilly Creek Lodge in Dahlonega, GA. Dahlonega is just a short drive from home and is located in the mountains. (more…)

This week I did not scour through all of my coupon books like I normally do. I just clipped the coupons that were listed on the shopping site I use. This saved me a lot of time, but may be one of the reasons that my savings were not as high as normal. (more…)

Several months ago someone hurt me very deeply. We tried to explain to the person how their actions had hurt me to no avail. Our approaching the person about the situation only made things more complicated and made the hurt I was feeling even worse. To this day I still have trouble thinking of the person without having my feelings of hurt resurface. (more…)
Fall Planting

I had originally planned on doing a second planting of our garden for late summer and fall. However I was unable to do so because of my surgery and recovery. The garden has been neglected the past several weeks and needs a lot of work before it can be considered a garden again. Grass has once again overtaken the area. (more…)
Back on schedule

This week the Lloyd Family has gotten back on a normal schedule. The alarm sounds at 6:30 am and we are all up starting our day. Yesterday, I went back to work for the first time since prior to my surgery. I had a great first day back. I had to keep reminding myself that my in-box did not pile up over night, so it will take time before I see the bottom of the box. David made my day by having a dozen red roses delivered to my office. (more…)
Back to School

I am six weeks late to the party but I am heading back this morning. Not sure what I will find when I arrive on campus but I know that I will have a ton of catching up to do. I have received grade updates for my students and way too many of them have taken advantage of my not being there and are failing. I am going to have get it through the heads of these students that play time is over and they have to get busy. (more…)
