Spring Break (Thursday and Friday)

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Thursday was an awesome day in Tybee. We went to visit the Tybee Island Light House and Museum. The Museum was closed for renovations, but it was cool to see the lighthouse.

We had lunch at “The Sugar Shack” http://tybeesugarshack.com/index2.html. This place was looked really dumpy but had the BEST milkshakes I have ever tasted. The food was really good too.

After lunch we went the beach. It was a beautiful day to relax in the sand and by the water.

Friday we packed up and headed home. We had an uneventful trip, but has heavy traffic. David and I are both sick with allergy problems so the trip seemed to take forever even though it only took about 5 hours to get home.

Now we are watching the news and listening to the radio to see if we are going to have a tornado.

Spring Break (Wednesday)

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Today was a lazy day for the Lloyd family. The weather was still chilly but warmed up during the late afternoon. We took Madilyn to the beach for the first time. She crawled on the sand and explored her new surroundings. We had a nice walk along the shore of the island.

For dinner we went to Uncle Bubbas Oyster House http://www.unclebubbas.com/ for dinner. The food was really good. We left stuffed and all of our plates still had a ton of food on them. The wait time to for seating was around an hour which is long when you have kids with you.

We have upload pictures to our flickr account. Friends and family please let me know if you have lost the link and I will resend it to you.

Tomorrow should be awesome with temps in the 70’s. It will be a great way to end our trip to Tybee.

Spring Break (Tuesday)

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Today was entirely too cold and windy for the beach, so we spent the day in Savannah site seeing. We first went to the Savannah History Museum http://www.chsgeorgia.org/shm/home.htm. It was not as glamorous as the brochure made it out to be, but it was something to do that was inside away from the cold air and wind, and did have some interesting displays.

After we finished at the museum we went to historic River Street. We visited a lot of the shops and had to buy fudge at both of the candy shops on the street. For lunch we went to the Moon River Brewing Company http://www.moonriverbrewing.com/restaurant.html. Service was slower than slow, but the food was pretty good.

For dinner we went to AJ’s Dockside Restaurant http://ajsdocksidetybee.com/. The place looked like a hole in the wall. But we all know that the hole in the wall restaurants serve the best food. Dinner was great. They have both inside and outside seating. We would have loved to enjoy the sunset while eating outside, but the winds just made it too cold to do so.

After the kids went to bed, David and I spent time planning our adult only trip in June. It has been almost 2 years since we have taken a trip by ourselves. The trip we are on now was originally planned for July of last year, but due to Madilyn’s unexpected arrival we postponed the trip and made it a family trip.

Our allergies are killing us but we are still trying to have a good time. Hoping for a warmer day tomorrow.

Spring Break (Monday)

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

We traveled from Kingsport TN, to Tybee Island GA on Monday of Spring Break. The trip went very well. We traveled through the mountains of Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. The views we saw were beautiful. It was neat to see the different colors of spring emerging.

We arrived in Tybee around 4 pm. The condo is wonderful, very nice and spacious with a view of the beach. For dinner we ate at the Crab Shack, not to be confused with Joe’s Crab Shack. We had a shell fish platter that more than fed the three of us. I think it was some of the best sea food I have ever had.

Madilyn is miserable, due to sinus issues. Her nose and eyes will not stop draining. She has been as happy as ever, but she hates it when we have to clean her eyes and nose.

Spring Break (Friday-Sunday)

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

We spent Friday night traveling to Kingsport TN to visit our friends Joey and Cheryl Manis. It was a long trip but we made it to the hotel just before 10. Saturday we had the honor of attending the baptism and adoption party of the 4 Manis children (Sarah, Lydia, Joesph Jr, and Joshua). We are God-Parents to Sarah. We had a blast meeting the children and seeing Joey, Cheryl and thier older children Melissa and Marlana.

Sunday we went to church at the church where Joey is pastor. After church we hung out with them at their home until late in the eveing. We had a good time reconnecting with them and building relationships with the kids.

Much Needed Vacation almost here

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I can not remember a time when I have needed a Spring Break more than I do now. Life has just been moving really fast and I need time to relax and do nothing. I know many of you will say, Donna you just had a week long cruise in December to Mexico. I know but I really need another vacation, besides 3 months is a long time. I guess I am at a time in my life where I just want to have more down time and less work and stress time.

We will start our trip on Friday night by heading to Kingsport TN. We will be celebrating the adoption of the Manis children by attending thier dedication and adoption party on Saturday. We have not seen the Joe and Cheryl in years and are really looking forward to spending some time with them and their children. We also get to show off Madilyn and Caleb. They have not seen Caleb since he was a baby.

Monday morning we will head to Tybee Island Georgia. We plan to relax on the beach and at the condo from Monday until Friday morning when we will head home. I have posted a link to our condo, so you all can be jealous of the views that we will have 🙂

What was I thinking????

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I feel so over-whelmed. I sometimes wonder how I am making it through with so much going on in life and what the heck was I thinking when I made the decisions I have made.

Currently I am enrolled in graduate school for 11 credit hours. That is just 1 credit shy of being considered full time. What in the heck was I thinking. Lets see… I was thinking that if I do not finish by May I will have to follow the new rules, which means more classes and taking another state test. I was thinking if I don’t finish by May I will not have a summer again this year. I was thinking if I don’t finish by May I may never finish.

Currently I am taking School Law, Educational Research and Portfolio Development. The amount of work required for these classes is mind blowing. Somehow, I am pushing through and making it.

What was I thinking when I decided to get a new job. I was thinking I would be close to home, get some of of the classroom experience, get away from the situation I was in that was horrible. Now I see the grass is STILL greener on the other side, but I am having to learn a whole new county and whole new rules and a whole new job. Then to top it off, I am filling in at another school, so I am doing my job at 2 schools, all for the pay of doing it at one school. What was I thinking. It would have been so much easier to just stay where I was , where I knew everyone and knew everything about the job.

It would be so easy to stay in my comfort zone and never move forward. This is what I was thinking, but I did not do that. I went with a crazy plan to adopt a baby, get a new job, and go to graduate school all at the same time.

At least the adoption is done, grad school will be over in May, and then maybe life can get back to normal.

Want to slap her silly:(

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Every once in a while I just want to find Madilyn’s bmom and slap her silly. Why in the world did she make the decision to smoke 2 packs a day while pregnant? Due to her selfishness Madilyn is very small and struggling to catch up but worse than that, she has chronic lung and bronchitis issues. We have to use a nebulizer 3 times a day, and have been using this treatment since October. It seems like every time she gets better, it only last for a few days and then we have to go back on the medication. These treatments are very difficult for Madilyn to take, as the machine is loud and she has to wear a face mask. She struggles and fights us the entire time but no matter what we can’t let her win.

Our doctor is hopeful that with time and age she will become stronger and not have to deal with bronchial issues her entire life.

I know people will say smoking is an addiction. I don’t care addictions can be broken. People try to kick their addiction but quit because they are selfish and don’t want to suffer the withdrawals of the addiction. Yes its hard but in the end once the cycle of addiction is broken your life will be better and so will the lives of everyone around you.

Tired

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Have you ever gotten a full nights sleep and woke up startled when the alarm clock went off? That is me lately. I am getting pretty good sleep now that Madilyn is sleeping through the night, but I wake up feeling like I have only slept an hour or so.

I long for times when work was not pressing and times when just hanging out was the thing to do. Seems like we do not have time to just hang out anymore now that we are responsilbe grown ups with careers, kids and bills. I want my life to be more than working, cleaning house and taking care of kids.

I determined a few weeks ago that I would make time for myself, David the kids and friends and not go crazy doing so. So on Feb. 14 I reactivated my gym membership and have been going to work out 3-4 days a week since then. I am feeling better, but still waking up tired. The time I spend at the gym is ME time. Time to think, time to chill and time to work on me. I LOVE it and don’t know why I quit going in the first place.

Last week I decided that it was crazy to drive Caleb all the way to youth, then go home only to have to come out to get him and drive home again. Our friends Iris and John live farther from the church than we do and thought the same thing. So this past Sunday night we spent about 2 hours chillin at “It’s a Grind.” It was a great night. We talked about fun things, serious things, stupid things, just whatever came to mind. Next week we are going to go get Sushi while the kids are at youth.

We are looking for a permanent babysitter so that we can establish a weekly or biweekly date night. While Caleb is too old for a babysitter he is not old enough to take care of Madilyn by himself. He has some hurt feelings about this but will get over it. We have a girl that we have used once and have scheduled again, and are hoping that it will work out.

Sometimes, you really have to think about and plan time to just relax and not let your life run you. Working on it, but right now life is running me I am not running life.

8 Months

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Madilyn is 8 months old today. Time is passing by so very qucikly. She is a good baby and is really on the move lately. She crawls very fast, stands up and walks along the sofa while holding on. She begs for table food and has the sweetest smile I have ever seen a baby have.

She has added so much joy to our lives. I can not believe that we have had our precious baby for 8 months already.

She has had several ear infections and colds but she is very healthy otherwise.
