Monday, May 13th, 2013Sending sick kids to school…
Wednesday, November 28th, 2012In 16 years of being a parent I have NEVER once sent one of my children to school sick. I respect the rules, parents, teachers, and children they come into contact with to much to expose them to possible sickness. As a school teacher I have found that parents feel that it is perfectly acceptable to send their sick kids to school. (more…)
A day in the life….
Monday, June 18th, 2012For some reason my daughter has always had the need to know “whats, next” or “then what.” She is definitely a child that lives by and needs a schedule. She needs a structured day and she thrives in that type of environment. If her day is not structured she becomes frustrated and usually ends up driving everyone in the house crazy. (more…)
Yes, we use summer daycare
Wednesday, June 6th, 2012I will confess I am that parent that keeps her child in daycare even when I am not working. For the past three years we really did not have a choice since I was taking summer classes. Kids schedules running your life?
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012You are worried about seeing him spend his early years in doing nothing. What! Is it nothing to be happy? Nothing to skip, play, and run around all day long? Never in his life will he be so busy again. ~Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Emile, 1762
In our home we do not over schedule our children or let their schedules rule our lives. Often parents spend all of their free time playing taxi driver to children. Many parents I know live life in a fog taking children from one extra curricular activity to the next. (more…)
Family Dinner Planning~Working Moms
Wednesday, January 4th, 2012Shortly after Caleb was born I realized that being a working mom is hard. It is difficult to stay organized, raise children, and work all at the same time. Being a mom and full time employee takes PLANNING. One of the most difficult parts of our life to plan is dinner. With two adults, an active teen, and toddler in the home it is often hard to plan meals that fit our busy schedule. (more…)
A Good Rule for Working Mom’s
Tuesday, December 13th, 2011Often people ask me “how do you do it?” They are referring to doing a full time job, raising a family, blogging, gardening, and keeping a “perfect” house. Well let me be the first to say my house is NOT perfect…. remember looks can be deceiving. Some people call me Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart, since I am always trying something new in the kitchen. Most of the time I feel like a clown trying not mess up a juggling act. (more…)
