Not flesh of my flesh, Nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute, you didn’t grow under my heart but in it. – Fleur Conkling Heylinger
Today I am thankful for adoption. My world changed for the better when our adopted daughter came into our lives. Through the process of adoption our family is now complete. While the road to a finalized adoption is often long, complicated, and at times heartbreaking it is one of the things I would not change about my life or my family.
Today is the 10th Annual National Adoption Day. It is estimated that the adoptions of 4,500 children from the foster care system will be finalized today. Thousands of private adoptions will also be finalized today. Since November of 2000, more than 30,000 adoptions have been finalized on this special day.
Happy National Adoption Day to all of the families who will complete the adoption process today.
