Thankfulness Day 22- Adoption

familyshadows“The adoption was challenging- the LOVE arrived instantly.” Unknown

Today I am thankful for Adoption. Without adoption I would not be mom to the most wonderful little girl on the planet. Without adoption my family would not exist as we know it.

Shortly after we arrived home with Madilyn someone asked me, “Do you feel the same way about her as you do Caleb and how long did it take.”  I answered yes, and it only took one moment for me to fall in love with her. I will never forget the first time I saw her. She looked so very tiny and so beautiful.  The moment I saw her I loved her. The moment I held her I knew I could never let her go.

Adoption is a hard road to travel. So many detours and roadblocks. Unexpected paperwork, court dates, and so very expensive. Stress levels are high among all involved in the situation. However, I would do it all again.  The work it took to complete our adoption is worth the end result.

Today is National Adoption Day. Today thousands of adoptions will be finalized across our nation. Many children will finally know that they are forever home. Many parents will finally know that the child they have come to know and love will not be taken away from them. Finally today, thousands of parents and children will become legal families in the eyes of the law.  It is a wonderful day for so many people.

What are you thankful for today?
