Not flesh of my flesh, Nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute, you didn’t grow under my heart but in it. – Fleur Conkling Heylinger
Today I am thankful for adoption. My life would not be what it is today without adoption. The process of adoption changed my life and my family. This process forced me to be patient and to wait on God’s timing. I guess I am a slow learner since I did not fully learn those lessons during our quest to have Caleb and infertility treatments.
I am thankful each and every day for my beautiful daughter. I am thankful that she was brought to me through adoption. I am thankful that she is who she is because of how she entered this world. She would not be the same had she been biologically born to me.
Since neither of my children were easily brought into our family they know that they were not accidents. I hate it when people say, “this is my accident baby” or “this is my menopause baby.” These comments and similar comments really deflate children and make them question if their parents really want them and love them. My children will always know without a doubt that they did not just happen. We had to work hard to get them here. They were very much wanted, prayed for, planned for, and loved even before they came into existence.
Today is the 11th Annual National Adoption Day. It is estimated that the adoptions of 4,000 children from the foster care system will be finalized today. Additionally, thousands of private adoptions will also be finalized today. Since November of 2000, more than 35,000 adoptions have been finalized on this special day.
Happy National Adoption Day to all of the families who will become forever families today.
What are you thankful for today?

I definitely cried reading this post! I love your family and how it was created!
It makes me cry too. Every time I think about how close we came to saying no, because of the long journey and all of the stress of the process I am so thankful we took a leap and said yes.
You will be forever thankful!!!
