Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things. ~Author Unknown
We had the pleasure of going to Tennessee this weekend to visit our dear friends Joey, Cheryl and their children. We have known Joey and Cheryl for about 20 years. We became friends while we were students at Lee. I don’t know what it was about them but we just clicked and became friends. We don’t get to see them often, but we enjoy the time that do have together. We were especially excited about this visit because we got to meet their new arrivals Samuel and Stephen.
People talk about having friends that are just like them, well for us Joey and Cheryl are the couple that are most like us. They have had many of the same experiences in life as we have had. They just get us and we get them.
They can honestly tell us they know how we feel when we talk about adoption, miscarriage, infertility, fertility treatments and so much more. They also know the struggle of raising a teen while raising younger children. When we talk to them we don’t just get platitudes and empty words, we get true understanding of what we are feeling. They get the same from us. Its good to have friends who have been there and done that, it makes it so much easier to get through the rough patches of life.
