1st day of 2nd Grade
Summer went by too fast for my taste. First day of 2nd grade has come and gone.
We are actually in our second week of school. So far Madilyn LOVES school. Everything is perfect. She has friends in her class, her teacher is nice and her days are filled with learning and fun. Everyday she has gotten up and ready without much prodding from me. I know this probably won’t last long, but I pray that it does.
This week she will see how it goes as homework and normal class work goes into full effect. She may decide that she is not as excited to be back in school as she thought.
As for me I started my 20th year as a teacher. Twenty years, wow. I don’t feel old enough to have been doing this for so long. Twenty years, 3 schools and thousands of students. I have been doing this long enough that had I stayed in the same place I could be teaching children of my previous students.
Usually I am ready to go back to work a few weeks before the end of summer. This year, I just was not ready to go back, when it was time. I enjoy my job so I don’t know why it is different this year. Maybe its because the weather is too hot and I don’t want to dress up everyday. Maybe its because I had a nice summer and just want to continue with the days of leisure and a free schedule.
Hopefully my year 20 will be a good one.
