Today I am linking up with the Ladies at The Simple Woman’s Daybook to just reflect on my life right now in this minute. It is relaxing and uplifting to just sit and think about the simple things and times in our lives. (more…)

Sunday, December 18th, 2011Family Update
Saturday, December 17th, 2011
The weather has been a little strange. Cold and windy one day and warm the next. It does not even feel like Christmas. I was hoping for a hot chocolate and fire in the fire place weekend but it is just too hot for that today.
While we as a family did not do very much together individually we were all pretty busy this week. It has been one of those weeks that I could have done without. (more…)
Thankful for the Journey
Thursday, December 15th, 2011
Misty at The Family Math asked me to participate in her Thankfulness Thursday Series. I was more than happy to join her in continuing to focus on being Thankful. To be truthful I am struggling with focusing on the good in my life right now due to some blindsides that have come my way at work. (more…)
Christmas Ornament Tradition
Wednesday, December 14th, 2011
We have lots of Christmas traditions in our home. A few years ago, I decided to start decorating our kitchen for the holidays. When I thought about doing a tree for the kitchen I wanted it to be special and homey. The first idea that popped into my mind was to use crafts made by my kids to decorate the tree. One of my favorite traditions has become having the kids create home made ornaments for our kitchen Christmas Tree. (more…)
A Good Rule for Working Mom’s
Tuesday, December 13th, 2011
Often people ask me “how do you do it?” They are referring to doing a full time job, raising a family, blogging, gardening, and keeping a “perfect” house. Well let me be the first to say my house is NOT perfect…. remember looks can be deceiving. Some people call me Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart, since I am always trying something new in the kitchen. Most of the time I feel like a clown trying not mess up a juggling act. (more…)
There is no Santa
Monday, December 12th, 2011
I know that this is not a popular stance but in my house we do not encourage the belief in Santa. David and I decided many years ago that we would not encourage our children to believe in Santa. Instead we tell our children that Santa is an example of how we should give to others while expecting nothing in return.
We also teach our children the story of Saint Nicholas and how his life became the background for modern day Santa stories. We also do not encourage belief in the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, or Cupid. (more…)
Sixty-five

I have officially lost 65 pounds this year. The last few pounds lost have been hard fought, but the fight is mine to win this time. Madilyn weighs 30 pounds, it is hard for me to believe that I have lost the weight equivalent to two small children. Some days I don’t feel like I look like I have lost that much weight. (more…)
Lloyd Family Update
Saturday, December 10th, 2011
Another week has come and gone at the Lloyd House. As the year is wrapping up we seem to be slowing down a little and trying to enjoy life and the Christmas Season. I can not believe that we are already well into December. This year has just flown by.
Christmas is getting into full swing as the house has been decorated, Christmas cards mailed, and Christmas movies are being watched. Our first batch of Christmas cookies disappeared in record time. We may have to bake some more this weekend. (more…)
The Halls are Decked
Friday, December 9th, 2011
I love decorating my home for the holidays. Over the years I have accumulated enough decorations to decorate all of our main living areas. I like the tradition of having the same items year after year. I hope when my kids are older they will remember fondly Christmas time at our home. (more…)
Lessons from Philippians 4
Thursday, December 8th, 2011
While studying Philippians 4 verses 4-9 really stood out to me. I have read this passage time and time again over the years, and never made the connection that I made during this current study. Of course in the past I have only read the passage and not studied it or concentrated on what was truly being said. I think that most people fail to make connections while reading the Word because they are just reading and not studying.
For the first time it became obvious to me that these verses are a road map at how to handle stress in my life. Maybe others have seen this connection before, but for me it just clicked this time around. (more…)
