Family Update

It is so hard to get back into a normal routine after having a week off for vacation. We have all had a tough time getting back into the swing of things this week.

I think that the weather being cold and rainy along with the fact that we have started getting ready for the Christmas season made it even harder for all of us to get back to normal everyday routine. Its good to be home and its good to be almost back on schedule. (more…)

Just Toss it!

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

In the past when I lost weight I would box up the clothing items that were to big and save them. I don’t know why I just did not toss the items once I could no longer wear them. I guess I was not emotionally ready to let go of the weight or the clothing. Not being able to let go of the clothing was an internal signal that I was not confident that I could be successful at keeping the weight off. Keeping clothing I could no longer wear was also a signal that it was alright if the weight came back.

Weight Loss Stalls

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

The nightmare word of all words to those trying to drop unwanted pounds is “stall.” We all know what it means. Stalling means that no matter what you do your body has decided that it is going to hang on tight and not let go of the pounds you are trying to shed. The problem with stalling during a weight loss journey is that often a stall ends up begin the end of the battle. (more…)

I lied on my Weight Watchers list.  I put down that I had 3 eggs… but they were Cadbury chocolate eggs.  ~Caroline Rhea

One of the questions that people ask me most often now that I have lost weight is “what do you eat?” I eat a variety of foods. I try to stick to natural non-processed foods since they are more healthy. I make sure that I have a balanced diet that has all of the food groups represented. (more…)

Saying yes to the skinny jeans by saying no to the donuts.  ~Betsy Cañas Garmon

Okay, so they aren’t exactly skinny jeans (yet), but I am getting there. The photo shows the jeans I wore this past July as compared to the jeans I now wear. I got this photo idea from my friend Shannon. I can not wait to do another update photo in a few months.

Between August 30 and October 12 I lost a total of 14.75 inches over my entire body. (more…)

“Don’t wait for someone to take you under their wing. Find a good wing and climb up underneath it.” ~Frank C. Bucaro

Shortly after I decided that I needed to make some major life changes and get my health and weight under control I contacted my friend Shannon. I have known Shannon since my college years. In 1991, we both had the bodies and metabolism of great looking 19 year old college students who could eat anything and not worry about weight gain. She had inspired me by her Facebook status updates and blog post about her weight loss journey. (more…)

Water, Water, Water…

Water is the most neglected nutrient in your diet but one of the most vital~ Kelly Barton

Once I got serious about loosing weight, I made it a point to drink more water. Prior to starting this journey I would drink an average around 12 ounces of water per day. I am now drinking an average of 80 ounces of water everyday. This total accounts for only plain water not tea, coffee, or any other water source.  (more…)

People have asked me how have I lost weight, and how do I plan on keeping it off.  That’s a hard question to answer. It is also a question that can not be answered in one blog post. (more…)

Instead of giving myself reasons why I can’t, I give myself reasons why I can ~ Author Unknown

I have lived most of my adult years fighting a loosing battle with my weight. I gain, I loose, I plateau, and then gain back everything I had lost. I have grown tired of the fight and have decided that it will not be a fight any longer. This time I WILL win the battle.  As of this week I have lost 50 pounds. (more…)
