Family Update

It is so hard to get back into a normal routine after having a week off for vacation. We have all had a tough time getting back into the swing of things this week.

I think that the weather being cold and rainy along with the fact that we have started getting ready for the Christmas season made it even harder for all of us to get back to normal everyday routine. Its good to be home and its good to be almost back on schedule.

Our Week in Review

  • Most of the family had the stomach bug this week. Thankfully it was a short lived bug and we are all back to our normal healthy selves.
  • We began decorating for Christmas last Saturday and hope to finish today. It never takes this long, but with illness and just being busy we have not had a lot of time to work on decorating.
  • Madilyn started painting an ornament for the Christmas tree on Sunday and it still is not finished because she got sick while doing it, and we just have not had time to finish it, hopefully today it will be completed.
  • I am looking forward to making Christmas cookies with the kids this weekend. We always have fun baking together. Madilyn is a little excited about the new gingerbread cookie cutter.
  • Only 10 more school days are left in this semester and 4 of those will be half days so that students have more time to study for exams.
  • We had fun setting up our Christmas Nativity with Madilyn. She has been begging me to “put Jesus out” for weeks. She was so excited to help with setting up the display.
  • I can not believe that it is already time to order Caleb’s class ring . Where has the time gone? My little boy is growing up.
  • So I was told that my promotion that came with a pay raise never got approved at the county level. This means two things 1) first my pay will be about $3000 less than expected this year, 2) I get to work fewer days in the future, which means a longer summer with family. At least they are going to pay me for the extra days I have already worked. Seems like every time I take a few steps forward I fall three steps back.
  • I was able to maintain my weight during the Thanksgiving Holiday. I feel good about being able to do that. I even had pumpkin pie, dump cake, fried cornbread, and cheddar biscuits from The Red Lobster. I don’t know how I managed to maintain but I did. Now its time to start loosing again.
