Thankfulness Day 8

When people go to work, they shouldn’t have to leave their hearts at home.  ~Betty Bender

Today I am thankful for my career. I love what I do and I don’t think any amount of money would persuade me to leave the field of education. I spent 11 years in the classroom teaching technology to students who probably knew more about it than I did. I have spent the last 3 years helping students with career and college goals. I plan to spend at least the next 16 years working with young people in some way.

Teachers are sometimes unappreciated and always unpaid. I went into teaching knowing full well that my pay would never be in the six figures and that I would probably never be publicly recognized or appreciated for my efforts. I did not go into teaching for money or fame. I went into teaching because teachers made a positive impact on my life, and I wanted to do the same for others. I have never once regretted my decision to pursue a career in education. I am really grateful that I get to spend my days working in a job that I love.

What are you thankful for today?
