Thankfulness Day 9

“Children of a culture born in a water-rich environment, we have never really learned how important water is to us. We understand it, but we do not respect it.”– William Ashworth

Today I am thankful for fresh, clean running water in my home. I am thankful that each day I have water to drink, bathe, cook and clean with. I am thankful that my children and I do not have to hike miles to a stream or well in order to provide water to my family. I am thankful to be able to start each day with a hot shower and a cup of coffee.

Water is something that we take for granted, but is very much in short supply for many people around the world. One of David’s friends has been on several mission trips to help provide clean water to people in Haiti with a group called Raincatchers.  This organization leads groups of volunteers into the mountains of southeast Haiti to build simple, sustainable rainwater collection systems called Raincatchers. If you would like to help a worthy cause please click the link above and read about what you can do to help provide water to the people of Haiti.

What are you thankful for today?
