Day 14~ Sisters

A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves – a special kind of double.  ~Toni Morrison

Today I am thankful for my five sisters. We may fuss, fight, and disagree but in the end all that matters is that we are sisters. Sisters are the people in which you confide your hopes, dreams, and reality. Sisters are the people who will listen to you even when they have a “to do list” that is three miles long. Sisters are the people that you learn to depend on when everything in life seems to be going wrong. Sisters are the people who can look you straight in the eye and tell you that you are being stupid and you need to get your head screwed back on right. Sisters are the people that you can dislike one moment and love the next.

If you searched high and low I don’t think you would ever find another set of sisters that are so different yet so much alike.  I won’t focus on our differences but we are alike in several ways.

  • We are all too sensitive for our own good. We all cry watching reruns of “Little House on the Prairie.” It does not take much for us to get the tears rolling.
  • We are all stubborn. Once we set our minds on something we don’t give up until we reach our goal. We have had many long fights because we are to stubborn for our own good.
  • We are all loud but quiet at the same time. We are often loud to be heard, but quiet in order to think and process.
  • We are all “momma bears.” Leave our kids alone, if you want to live to see yours grow up. Nothing gets us more riled up then others messing with our kids. We even get riled up if you mess with our nieces and nephews.

I really wish Madilyn could have a sister. NO…. its not going to happen. I cannot have any more children and it is a miracle that we survived the process of adoption the first time around. I guess she will just have to deal with having a brother, which is something I never experienced.

What are you thankful for today?
