Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 (NIV)
This summer I have had a lot of TIME to do not only the things that I need to do but I also have time to do the things I want to do. I don’t have to punch a clock, be in a meeting or get anything done for work. I am not tied to a desk or an office and it is wonderful. I get to fill my days doing whatever I feel like doing, this is such a gift. I feel very blessed and I am thankful for the gift of time, and the gift of a job that affords me summers, weekends, and holidays off.
I do need to get control of my time and how it is spent once school starts back. During the school year I have a hard time fitting in the things that I need to do, like going to the gym. I also have a hard time fitting in the things I want to do like getting a manicure and pedicure. It seems like I always have stuff to do but not enough time to do everything. I am going to have to evaluate how my time is spent after work so that I can make the most my days. I really want my time off of work to be spent making my life and the lives of my family better. I don’t want my time to be wasted on things that have no meaning or impact.
I seldom think about the gift of time that the Lord has blessed me with. Having so much free time in the summer months has made me reflect more about time and how it is spent. It is a shame that we sometimes allow time to pass us by without a second thought. We act like we have all the time in the world and sit around idle letting it and opportunities pass us by. I for one need to learn to be a better steward of the time that I have been given. Time is a gift that does have a limit and we never know when it is going to run out for good.
