“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
Recently I was able to take a road trip with my son to California. The purpose of this trip was to get him to California so that he could start a summer internship at NASA. If you have a teenager and have never traveled alone with them you should. It can be an adventure.
I have not been out west since I was a young teenager. I had forgotten what it actually looks like. Every state we traveled through was so different from Georgia. Our brief time in Tennessee took us through Monteagle, so beautiful no matter the time of year. Arkansas and Oklahoma were also pretty in their own ways with fields, rivers and a beautiful sunset over the Mississippi. Texas was so barren, but interesting due to the fields and fields of windmills. New Mexico is one of the prettiest states, miles and miles of painted desert. However, once you get up close to the mountains they are no where near as pretty as the mountains of Tennessee and North Georgia.
While in Arizona we visited the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest and the Grand Canyon. All three of these sites were stunning. Television and magazine pictures do not come close to documenting the true beauty of these places. When I got my first glimpse of the Grand Canyon tears actually came to my eyes. All I could think was GOD MADE THIS, he is such an artist.
I think at times we become immune to seeing the beauty around us, because it is our normal view. I am so thankful that I was able to get away from my normal view and be reminded that the world is beautiful.
