“The saddest thing I can imagine is to get used to luxury”-Charlie Chaplin
Today I am thankful for the many luxuries I enjoy in my daily life. We enjoy a lifestyle that is so full of luxury that we sometimes forget that others do not enjoy the same luxuries. I am trying hard to teach my children to be thankful for everything they have everyday, even if it is not exactly what they would like.
I am thankful today for the everyday luxuries that make my home life comfortable. I cannot imagine a life without indoor plumbing, running water, electricity, a warm bed, and central air/heat. Yet, many people in our own county and around the world live without these luxuries on a daily basis.
I am thankful that we have an abundance of good food to eat. I have everything I need to purchase and prepare healthy meals for myself, my husband and my children. We have a stove, refrigerator, dishes to cook in, dishes to eat on and we even have a wonderful dishwasher. I am thankful that I do not have to worry about how I am going to feed my children on a daily basis.
I am thankful that my children have access to free education. Sure our system has problems, but my children are getting a wonderful education. My son is at the top of his class and has great SAT and ACT scores. Due to the public education he will have many opportunities open to him in the future. Madilyn is just starting out as a student, but already she is learning so much. Many children around the world have no access to education.
We have so much that we take for granted. Today I am thankful for all the little things that I sometimes forget to be thankful for.
What are you thankful for today?
