Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. ~Leo Buscaglia
Today I am thankful for the kindness of others. With everything that is bad in the world it is nice to know that there are still kind people in the world. It is not difficult to show kindness. All it takes is a kind word or small gesture. However, most people don’t take the time to just simply show kindness to others.
In recent days I have not only witnessed the act of people showing kindness to others, but a total stranger showed me kindness. Last week while doing my grocery shopping a young mom with a fussy child was a few people in front of me in line. When she tried to pay for her groceries her card was declined. The person right in front of me did not hesitate and paid for the lunch items the mother was trying to purchase for her child. She was so thankful for the kindness of a stranger.
On Saturday while I was shopping at Target a lady walked up to me and handed me a $10 off of a $50 food coupon that expired that day. She said she did not need $50 worth of food, but it looked like I had that much in my cart. It was so kind of her to give me the coupon. She could have just discarded it, but instead she decided to offer it to a complete stranger.
I am striving to be a kinder more compassionate person. I try to keep in mind all it takes is a little effort to change the mood or outlook of a person that may be having a bad day.
How will you show kindness today? What are you thankful for today?
