Lloyd Weekly

snowmanThis has been a strange winter. We have actually been home from school more days than we have attended since returning from Christmas Break. I think that we are going to have a very hard time come spring when we get no breaks and have to get back to our normal schedules. This week the kids only attended school one day and next week we have our scheduled Winter Break.

Madilyn enjoyed building a snowman. This was a first for her.  She also enjoyed throwing snowballs at others but did not enjoy having them thrown at her.

Caleb now has senioritis more than ever. All of these extra days off of school are not helping him to focus. He is done and cannot wait to be finished.

David is still looking for a job. He has had several inquiries and a few good interviews, but nothing solid has come his way yet.  He is working some on an outside project that will hopefully materialize into something great but only time will tell.  We are still just trusting in God and know that something will come and it will be good.

I am not a fan of all of these snow days. Many people do not realize that teachers have ZERO built in snow days. I have to make-up every day that we have missed. If I don’t make them up I have to use my sick time. I don’t have a lot of banked sick time due to surgery and continued illness a few years ago so I will be logging in a lot of make-up hours. However, I did enjoy helping the rest of the family build a snowman and our snowball fight.

Next week we have a scheduled week off. We did not plan to go anywhere, mostly because we knew back in October that David might not have a job. I am now trying to come up with a few ideas of inexpensive things we can do locally just to get out of the house.  I want to spend time with my family, but I think we need a little change of scenery after all of these unplanned snow days.
