Thankful Everyday

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.~ Philippians 4:8

The past 24 days in which I have posted my series entitled “24 Days of Thankfulness” has been a great time of reflection for me. During this time I have focused on the good in my life and have resisted thinking about the negative things in my life. I am going to try to continue to be thankful for something each and everyday.

This is the second year that I have focused on the blessings in my life during the Thanksgiving Season. I won’t lie, November is difficult for me. Thanksgiving week is even harder. Little traditions of  Thanksgiving bring back the memories from two years ago. People don’t understand why I still hurt, why I still cry, and why at times I get angry. To tell you the truth I am still in mourning and many people can’t understand that. The passage of time really has not helped to ease the pain.

Even in a life full of pain and disappointment I have so much to be thankful for and should think about those things. I try to always be positive but on occasion the negative things and thoughts of loss do creep into mind. Philippians 4:8 runs through my head several times each day.  This verse  is one that I am trying to live out in my life everyday.
