“The Best Health Care Plan Is A Self Care Plan” Nina Leavins
I have been told the best way to focus on health and fitness is to have goals. I have goals but I have never written them out for all the world to see. Most people think my goals revolve around weight loss. While I do want to drop some pounds, that is not on the top of my list.
My goals:
- Health: I want to have a healthy body. I want to be healthy so that I am around to spend time with my family and friends. I want the time we spend together to be active and fun not just sitting around because my health cannot tolerate being active. My doctor tells me that if I become more fit and healthy my knee pain will decrease, that sounds good to me. I want to avoid being diabetic. I want to avoid heart issues. I currently take no prescription medications on a daily basis and I want to keep it that way. Exercise and eating well is one way to get healthy and fight disease.
- Strength: I want to be able to have the strength to lift the babies and toddlers in the church nursery without fear of hurting my back. I want to have the strength to change my own tire should I get a flat on the side of the road. I know how to change a tire, but I am not sure that I could physically do it today if I had too. My arms and back are so weak.
- Endurance: I want to be able to be in continuous motion without getting winded or having to take frequent breaks. I have a 6 year old to keep up with and she makes it difficult because she has so much energy and she never stops.
- Weight Loss: I have not actually thought of a goal weight. I will take it as it comes and continue to work on all of my goals knowing that as I progress on the first three goals, the weight will naturally begin to be shed (at least that is what I have been told).
What are your health and fitness goals.
