Choosing Life- Devotional

Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to actually live life. That may sound odd to many, but living life is more than just being busy with work, family and other commitments. Our lives are so complicated with all of the junk that we allow to come into them that we do not always experience the life that we are meant to experience.

Verse: Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessing and curses. I can call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that your and your descendants might live! Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey him commit yourself to him, for he is your life (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).

I have heard this verse preached many times through out my life. The preacher normally ties this verse to choosing to sin or not to sin. However, when I was spending time mediating and praying after reading this the following thought came to mind:  It is not only that we choose to sin or not to sin, it is that we choose to truly have a life in him. In order to grow and experience the life he wants us to have we need to spend time reading and studying his word and praying and seeking him in our life everyday.

Do you ever stop and think about how you are living your life?  Are you living your life as if God is your life or are you just living to make it through another day?  I know that many times I loose focus and my life becomes about making it through another day. God has given us the power to choose, and he wants us to choose life in him and with him. Lately I have been much better at living as if he is my life and my outlook and thoughts on life have changed and become more positive.  It is truly amazing the difference you will see when you choose to live as if he is your life instead of just living a life.
