My life for the past 10 months has been anything but peaceful. I have been living questioning God’s plan for my life, and trying to come to terms with the circumstances that entered my life by surprise. Something that was suppose to be good turned out to be a nightmare. Sometimes life throws us things we can not handle on our own, (see Be Still post). The past three or four weeks things have gotten better because I have finally admitted that I am not in control and can do nothing to change what has and is currently happening in my life. In order to have peace in my life I can not be in control of my life.
Verse: These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulations; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world (John 16:33).
We are clearly told in God’s word that genuine peace can only be found through him. We are not promised a life without pain or tribulation, but we are promised peace through these times if we will rely on him in all aspects of our lives. We can only find the peace we need through God. The things and people of this world can not offer us long lasting pure peace.
Additional verses- for reflection
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27).
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2: 1-4)
