Financial peace isn’t the acquisition of stuff. It’s learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. You can’t win until you do this- Dave Ramsey.
Today I am thankful for financial peace. David and I made unwise financial decisions early in our marriage. The decisions we made prohibited us from being truly happy and secure.
Over the past several years David and I have made great advances in how we think about money. In the past we would just use our credit cards in order to obtain the things that we wanted. We did not think twice about making purchases that we could not afford. Now we not only think about purchases we plan for purchases. We no longer use credit cards and have cancelled most of our accounts. We have learned to save money instead of spending every dime we make. We have learned to budget our money so that we no longer stress about how the bills will be paid.
I believe that God made me a “giver.” For a long time my financial habits prohibited being that giver. Since David and I have gotten our financial act together we have been able to give more to others, which excites me. Taking control of our finances has allowed us to take control of other areas in our lives. I am thankful that I am at peace with our finances which enables me to have peace in other areas of my life.
What are you thankful for today?
