“You must gain control over your money or the lack of it will forever control you.” ~ Dave Ramsey
Today I am thankful for financial peace. In today’s economy I am even more thankful that I have made peace with my finances. Early in our marriage David and I made unwise financial decisions. The decisions we made forced us to have to live pay check to pay check. A lack of money caused our lives to be full of stress and worry. For years, I felt like we were in a downward spiral that would never change direction.
Several years ago we got real with ourselves about our finances. We made the decision to get back on track with our money. We began to change our spending and saving habits. We sacrificed our wants and began working our way out of debt. We told ourselves “no” to things we did not really need and focused on our needs and becoming financially stable. It was not always fun but it was necessary for our financial health.
We now plan our purchases and live within a budget. We think through purchases and don’t buy on impulse. Recently we were able to pay off David’s truck a full year in advance of the payoff date. It felt great to hold the title in my hands.
Taking control of our finances has allowed us to take control of other areas in our lives. I am thankful that I am at peace with our finances which enables me to have peace in other areas of my life.
What are you thankful for today?
