Guess what I am 40, and I am not ashamed. There is nothing wrong with being forty it has got to be better than my 20’s and 30’s. My 20’s were spent in school and trying to have a baby. My 30’s were spent in school and trying to adopt a baby. I am not sure what I will do in my 40’s since I am done with both school and growing my family.
In honor of my 4oth birthday I thought I would post 40 things about me you may not know. I highly doubt that anyone (with the exception of David) who reads this list will say, “I knew all of those things.”
- I was born is Spokane Washington.
- I have 5 sisters and no brothers. I am second in the line-up.
- I have a minor in the Bible.
- I am a giver at heart.
- I am shy, and have a hard time meeting new people.
- I have high expectations for myself and can not stand to fail at anything.
- My favorite color is emerald green.
- I had a troubled life as a teen and actually lived in a group home for a while.
- I give honest answers when asked questions. So if you really don’t want to know how you look in an outfit don’t ask me because I will tell you.
- I hated my 20’s and 30’s. I am going to live it up in my 40’s.
- I was only 18 when I married the love of my life.
- I puke before speaking to large crowds. Not a good thing since I have to do it on a fairly regular basis in my job.
- I once broke up a fight at school that ended with a momma of a 6 foot 250 lb boy complaining that I used excessive force and intimated her child. Yeah, right. He intimated me.
- I have a lead foot.
- I have talked myself out of more than one ticket.
- I don’t really like ice cream. After working at Dairy Queen I lost my love for the cold treat.
- I have no sense of direction and get lost easily.
- I married my college math tutor. In truth I might not have ever graduated from college had he not tutored me.
- I have a scar on my head that won’t grow hair the size of a nickel, all because I would not listen to my mom and I insisted on jumping on the bed.
- I chipped my tailbone in 5th grade when a boy named Ronnie Graham pushed me down on the gym floor. Its funny that I can hardly remember anyone from my elementary years but I remember him.
- My favorite season is Fall.
- My feelings are easily hurt by others.
- I am a tea junkie. I currently have 11 different kinds of tea in my tea box.
- I can type over 80 words a minute. I used to time myself on the projection screen while my students were doing timed writings. They would all think that they did so well until they looked up and saw my scores. Yes, I know it sounds mean, but it did give some of the students something to strive for.
- I think weddings are over rated and cost to much. Marriage is not about the wedding, its about all the days and actions that follow the wedding.
- I tried to smoke one time, I was wearing a brownie uniform at the time and I thought I was going to die. It was horrible.
- I have never done drugs.
- I like old movies. My favorite movies are “Lucille Ball in The Long Long Trailer” and the original version of “Yours, Mine, Ours” also starring Lucy.
- Rubies are my favorite gem stone.
- I did not like David when we first met, and guess what he did not care for me either.
- It bothers me that parents dress their kids alike when they are not twins. It seems like they are not letting the kids develop their own personality and are forcing them to be “cute” when it is not really cute.
- I could never be a stay at home mom. I need adult interaction, and I need to be outside of my home.
- Barney and Dora give me the creeps. I really dislike most kids programing.
- If I were younger and had more money I would adopt several more kids.
- My dream car is a 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible. Maybe one day I will have one.
- I love thrill rides, there is not a coaster I won’t try.
- Towels must be folded in a shape of a rectangle not a square.
- I have no rhythm, so much so that Rhythm was my sorority nick name in college. Yes, I was a sorority girl in college.
- My toes go in a perfect slant. Each toe is just a little shorter than the one beside it.
- As much as people think I talk I keep a lot to myself.
