But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way~ Daniel 1: 8
RESOLVE :to come to a definite or earnest decision about; determine to do something.
While I was reading Daniel Chapter 1 the verse above stood out to me and got me thinking about, “What do I resolve to do?” How am I prepared to respond in the event that I am asked to do something that compromises my beliefs, standards, and principles?
Just like Daniel we are assaulted daily with things that go against our belief systems. Many times temptations could have been avoided if we would have identifyed them before being assaulted with them. Thinking about situations before they occur help us to have a plan in place so that we can live our lives the way we intend to live. We don’t have to give into social pressure. We like Daniel just need to resolve in our hearts and minds to do what is right. We need to resolve that we will follow God’s law even when we are pressured to go against his laws.
