We picked Caleb up from Space Academy on Friday. He had a great time and wants to go back again next summer. He seemed to be in his element while there. He did a combination program of space explorations and aviation. He said that he enjoyed the aviation part more than the space part, but could not really explain why. I am so glad that he enjoyed his time at camp. After the disaster of a science teacher he had last year we are trying to do whatever we can to get him refocused and enjoying science again. (more…)

Monday, July 26th, 2010
The focus of my Bible study this week is the love of God. We all need to take time to reflect on his love for us. It is sometimes difficult for us to understand the love that God has for us. His word is his love letter to us. We just need to take time to focus on and accept his love for us. (more…)
Eternal Life- Devotional
Friday, July 23rd, 2010
Today my devotional time continued with the concept of life. My focus shifted from life here on earth to eternal life. Many people spend their lives questioning whether or not they are good enough or if they have done enough good works to live in heaven for all eternity. God did not intend for us to be confused or uncertain as to if we will make it to heaven or not. His word tells us what is necessary for eternal life: (more…)
Hoping for Beans
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010
A few weeks ago we planted bean seeds in containers to help foster their growth. Last night I transplanted about 1/2 of the plants into the garden area since the plants in the containers needed to be thinned. All of the beans we had planted previously died. I planted these new plants in a different location with the hope that the beans will grow. I did leave about half of the beans in the containers so I could see first hand how container gardening works. Next year we will probably do a combination of containers and traditional gardening. Hard Questions
Wednesday, July 21st, 2010
One of the hardest parts of adoption was answering the questions posed by the adoption facilitators and agency workers that pertained to what would be acceptable in a placed child. We were forced to come face to face with hard questions and we had to be honest when answering these questions. It is important that prospective adoptive parents reflect on and answer posed questions honestly. (more…)
Summer is ending…
Tuesday, July 20th, 2010
We are in our last two weeks of summer. It is hard to believe that it is already time to get ready to go back to school. Time has seemed to fly by this summer.
Caleb is away at Space Academy in Huntsville this week so the house is quiet. His summer has not been that eventful this year because of my college schedule. I am just glad that we were able to send him to Scout Camp and Space Academy this summer so that his entire summer was not spent at home. (more…)
Losing your life- Devotional
Monday, July 19th, 2010
Many people go from one day to the next without even thinking about the passage of time or their own life. They go from one mundane task to the next without a second thought. They only pray or seek God occasionally. Some people only live life with the goal of making it through one more day. While these people are living and breathing they in reality are more like a corpse because they have lost the life they were intended to live. (more…)
Cooking Marathon
Sunday, July 18th, 2010
I had a big shopping trip this week. My total was $375 before coupons and BOGO. After coupons and BOGO I paid $236. This total is a lot more than I normally pay, but I had a cooking marathon this weekend. Many items I purchased this week were not on sale and were purchased without the use of coupons. With the groceries purchased we made 18 casseroles, 2 loafs of bread, and restocked many items for the pantry and freezer. (more…)
Choosing Life- Devotional
Friday, July 16th, 2010
Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to actually live life. That may sound odd to many, but living life is more than just being busy with work, family and other commitments. Our lives are so complicated with all of the junk that we allow to come into them that we do not always experience the life that we are meant to experience. (more…)
Avenues for Adoption
Thursday, July 15th, 2010
Many people have asked me “how do you find an adoptable child?” There are many options in which a family can pursue adoption. You as potential adoptive parents will have to decide which route is best for your family. David and I tried two different avenues in our pursuit of growing our family. (more…)
