Lately, looking at the garden area has been depressing. It looks so cold and dead. I long for spring and the days of vibrant color in the garden. (more…)
Gardening
This year I am trying my hand at gardening. I have never done this before so it should be interesting to see if I can get anything to grow or if my garden project will be a lost cause.

Somewhat Successful
Wednesday, October 5th, 2011One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides ~ W.E. Johns
The summer gardening season has almost come to a close. This year I would have to describe my garden as “somewhat successful.” My efforts this season were much more successful than previous seasons, but still lacking. I look forward to an even more productive gardening season next year. (more…)
Tomatoes
Thursday, August 25th, 2011There is nothing as tasty or juicy as a tomato picked right off the vine. This year my tomato crop has been excellent. I have not had a store bought tomato all summer long. I am so glad that the bugs decided to leave the tomato plants alone this year. (more…)

I plan to use this area of the garden each morning this summer as I start my day with my devotional study. I have always wanted to have a garden with a sitting area. (more…)
It’s Coming Together
Thursday, February 17th, 2011David and Caleb have finished the frames for 4 raised garden beds. The beds are 8 foot long, by 4 foot wide and 13 inches in depth. The beds have 2 foot of space between them which will be covered with garden fabric and mulch to prevent weeds and grass from growing in the area. Caleb and David have already started filling the raised bed with garden dirt. We still need several truck loads of dirt and manure in order to properly fill the garden beds. (more…)
Raised Garden Beds
Monday, January 31st, 2011It was a beautiful weekend here in Georgia. Caleb and David spent a lot of time outside preparing our garden area for the coming spring. Caleb found some carrots and I cleaned them and made them into carrot bread. I was surprised that the carrots actually grew and survived the winter. The smell of these carrots gave me a touch of Spring Fever. (more…)
