Many people go from one day to the next without even thinking about the passage of time or their own life. They go from one mundane task to the next without a second thought. They only pray or seek God occasionally. Some people only live life with the goal of making it through one more day. While these people are living and breathing they in reality are more like a corpse because they have lost the life they were intended to live.
Verse: If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it to me , you will find it (Matthew 10:39).
This verse is powerful. God is telling us that in order to have life we must give up our lives. Our lives could be so much more satisfying if we would just fully give ourselves to him in everything we do. Yes, we have jobs and responsibilities but we can do our jobs and meet our responsibilities in a more meaningful way by always putting God first in our lives. We must remember that God has a plan for our lives. Many of our problems occur when we force our plans for our lives to be our reality and do not submit to God’s plan for our lives.
Some people do not want to fully place their lives in God’s hands because they are fearful of the unknown. They don’t want to surrender because by surrendering they loose control. We need to remember that when God is in control things work out for the best and our lives become what they were intended to be.
For me some days are easier than others to put God first and let him be in control. Some days I just want to be in control. It will be a challenge, but I am going to put God first in my life all of the time, not just when it is easy or convenient. I challenge you to do the same.
