God word tells us that we need to set our minds on things above and not dwell on the things of this earth. This month has turned out to be more difficult than I expected it would be. It seems that everything from the color of the leaves, the temperature of the air, and family traditions take me back to this time last year. It is hard not to focus on and remember the pain and loss we experienced. During the next several weeks I am going to try to focus more on what his word says concerning where our focus should be and less on the events of last fall.
Verses for Reflection:
- Since then you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set you mind on things above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3: 1-2).
- Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things (Philippians 4:8).
I challenge my readers who may be living through difficult times, focused on material possessions, or just consumed with the demands of life to do the same. Lets not let the problems or desires we have in our lives dominate our thinking and attitudes. We need to set our sights on heavenly things and see how changing our focus can change our lives.
