One of the hardest things for me to do is to have faith and not to worry about things. It is so hard to sit back and let things happen and to not worry. When we allow worry and fret to come into our lives we become like Peter who had enough faith to get out of the boat and walk on the water, but ended sinking because he became fearful of the wind and lost his faith. I don’t want to be like Peter.
Matthew 14:25-31—25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
I want to have faith that is greater than the faith of Peter. I want to have a faith that never waivers no matter what life throws at me. I do not want to be asked the question, “why did you doubt?” Having unwavering faith is hard, but shows that you truly rely on God to sustain you through the trials of life.
