Finding Joy

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.” – Luke 2:10-11

As humans it is so easy to find joy in many material things, especially during the holiday season. We find joy in opening a gift, decorating a house, singing a favorite Christmas song, and in twinkling lights. However, this joy is short lived and as it quickly fades we  find ourselves searching for other sources of to bring us joy.

As Christians we need to remember that our joy should be in the Lord, not in material things that pass away. Our joy is found in the promises of Lord and Savior. Nothing will ever be able to compare to the joy that he can bring if we will only open our hearts and invite him in.

Take time to slow down this Christmas season and remember the reason we have Christmas and the one and only true source of lasting real joy.
