2013 Year of No Excuses.

Anytime you are trying to live a healthy lifestyle that includes diet and exercise routine is important. During the course of the last few months my routine was severely disrupted. First David had his motorcycle accident and recovery was slow. Then I had surgery and was unable to exercise due to restrictions placed on me by my doctor. My routine went down the drain due to stress, changes in schedule, and imposed restrictions.

These things happened right at the start of the holiday season. We had three months of holiday celebrations. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If you have not ever spent the end of October until the start of Christmas Break in a high school guidance office you have no idea what you are missing. The PTSA and other parents love guidance counselors and like to send over tempting treats almost daily. I was good most of the time, but sometimes I did indulge.

It was a fun few months at work, and also a time in which I gained back some of the weight I had lost. I would love to say that it was because of lack of exercise, but I will be honest and will say that it was due to a lack of self-control.

I have a lot of feelings about gaining this weight back. I am angry. I feel disappointed in myself. I am embarrassed that I did not exercise more self control.  I have been hit in the face with the realization that what I eat has to be a choice I make everyday.  If I want to keep the weight off and if I want to continue to loose weight I can not make excuses EVER.

David’s accident and my surgery is not why I gained weight. I did not exercise self control with the foods that I put in my mouth– that and that alone is why I gained weight. Using excuses will get me no where. For me 2013 will be the year of no excuses.

Yesterday while at the gym I got weighed and measured and I am back on track. My trainer feels that it will take me two to three weeks to drop the weight I gained. So my first goal for 2013 is to get back down to my October weight by end of January.
