When I was in high school and talked about being a teacher a counselor told me that I would never succeed at being a teacher. She gave me a list of reasons of why I would fail at teaching. The reasons included that I was too independent, and impatient. I knew deep within myself that I was called to teach. I knew that if I sought after any other career I would have regrets.
Just a few months ago a couple we know was looking for work as full time music ministers. They feel that they are called to be in the ministry in a full time capacity. In passing another person said that they needed to get real and find real jobs and do the music stuff on the side. A few weeks later they received a job offer that is perfect for them doing full time ministry.
The point of these stories is that if God is in it anything is possible. The impossible becomes possible when we let God be in control of our lives. He calls us to serve him in different ways, and if we are open to his calling everything will work out in a beautiful and miraculous way. We should not discount the calling that God has placed on our lives and the lives of others.
Verses to consider
Matthew 19:26– But Jesus looked at them and said, “with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Proverbs 16:9– The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
John 15:16– You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
