We must allow the Word of God to confront us, to disturb our security, to undermine our complacency and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behavior.” ― John R.W. Stott
Today I am thankful for God’s Word. With all that is going on in our nation today and over the course of the past few days I can’t help but wonder if reactions would have been different if more people were seeking his truth, comfort, and guidance.
I want to grow closer and closer to my heavenly father and one way to do that is by reading and soaking up his words. I have heard it many times that we become the product of what we choose to absorb. I want to absorb as much of God’s word and wisdom as I can. Our attitudes and behaviors are shaped by what we see, read, hear, and experience. I am thankful that the word of God has been preserved for us, so that we might read it and experience him a deeper way. I am thankful for the encouragement I receive when I take time to read my bible.
Believers need to make God’s word a priority in their lives. I have made it a priority in my life to spend more time reading my Bible. It is so important to me that it is the first thing I do every day. I set my alarm early, pop out of bed, and read and pray before starting the rest of my day. I can say that in the time I have been doing this I have been more focused, calm, and encouraged. I encourage you to make time for God each day. It is hard getting started. However, after a few months of doing this getting up early has become my routine, and it gets easier to do with each passing day.
What are you thankful for today?
