Heaven is for Real

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Recently I read the book “Heaven is for Real” by Todd Burpo. I am not sure if this story is a 100% true account of an experience or if it is just the imagination of a young boy.  Online blogger’s and scholars have come away with mixed responses of the validity of this story. I am still processing all of the information and have not yet formed an opinion. (more…)

Advantages of Adoption

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

Several weeks ago someone at work was talking about one of the greatest advantages of adoption. I was shocked to hear that she thought the greatest advantage of adoption was and I quote,”when you adopt, you can blame behavior on the biological parents.” Her thought process seemed to follow along the lines of the nature verse nurture controversy. Another Semester Down

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Two weeks ago I finished up the semester at KSU. By far this has been the hardest semester of school I have ever completed. For some reason I had a hard time staying focused and completing assignments. I was worried that I would not maintain a 4.0 GPA. Somehow I managed to make A’s in both of my classes. I am now only 6 credits away from completing my Specialist Degree. (more…)

Remember the blessings

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another (John 1:16).

It is so hard to remember all of the blessings that I have received when I am having a rough and disappointing week.

This week I had an encounter with someone who must have been God sent.  Mrs. H does not work in my building, but happened to be walking down the hall when I left my office to go and pick up something from another office.  I stopped to talked with her for a few minutes and discovered she had not planned to be in the building but had stopped in to check on an long-term substitute job that will be available next week. Still the one

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

Twenty years ago today David and I got married. After all this time we not only still love each other but we still like each other. We have stood by our wedding vows and loved each other through richness, poorness, sickness, health, good times and bad. We have stuck together through it all and have built a wonderful life together. I can not imagine my life without David. (more…)

Happy day for some…

Saturday, May 7th, 2011

Mother’s Day can be one of the most painful days of the years for those who desire children but can’t have them.  After years of struggling with infertility and the pain associated with not having a child I can relate to those who are enduring this struggle. (more…)

Garden Sitting Area

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

This past weekend I finished the sitting area in my garden. I wanted to create a quiet place where I could sit and do nothing, study God’s word, or just read for pleasure. I plan to use this area of the garden each morning this summer as I start my day with my devotional study. I have always wanted to have a garden with a sitting area. (more…)

Fog

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

We stayed up way too late the last night of our cruise, but it was fine because we already knew that we could sleep in due to the medical evacuation that moved our arrival time back by several hours. We were shocked that when we woke up our boat was once again moving at a very slow pace. (more…)

Anniversary Cruise- Day 5

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Friday we decided to get up early and catch a sunrise. I can not think of many things much more beautiful than watching a sunrise out on the open sea. We headed up to the top deck of the ship and waited for a few minutes looking toward the east. While standing there we noticed that our ship was slowing down and a small boat was quickly approaching. Anniversary Cruise Day 4

Sunday, April 17th, 2011

Thursday we woke up in the port of Calica. This port is not within walking distance of anything so guest wanting to explore are required to rent a car, get a taxi, or leave the port on a shore excursion bus. David and I booked an excursion that included a short bus ride to a beautiful beach resort to go snorkeling. (more…)
