Cooking with Apples
Thursday, March 3rd, 2011I had a bag of apples from Mercier Orchard that needed to be used so I decided to incorporate them in my cooking one night last week. Normally Caleb eats all the apples before I have a chance to use them for cooking. However, since he was recovering from having his wisdom teeth out he was unable to eat all the apples and they were at risk of rotting. I made Apple Stuffed Cornish Hens, with cornbread dressing and dirty mashed potatoes. The recipes I created can be found below. (more…)
Glazed Pork Chops
Friday, February 11th, 2011Recently I decided to try a new recipe. I made orange glazed pork chops with rice and sauteed spinach with berries. David helped prepare this meal. He often helps in the kitchen, but it was fun making something together that we had never made before. (more…)
Taste of Canton
Tuesday, October 19th, 2010This past Thursday night David, Madilyn and I visited the “Taste of Canton.” We have lived in the area for four years and have never taken time to attend this event. The event was hosted at the Canton Main Street Park. There were about 20 vendors from local restaurants that had samples of their tasty cuisine. For $10 all three of us ate until we were stuffed and even had tickets left over. (more…)
Cooking Marathon
Sunday, July 18th, 2010I had a big shopping trip this week. My total was $375 before coupons and BOGO. After coupons and BOGO I paid $236. This total is a lot more than I normally pay, but I had a cooking marathon this weekend. Many items I purchased this week were not on sale and were purchased without the use of coupons. With the groceries purchased we made 18 casseroles, 2 loafs of bread, and restocked many items for the pantry and freezer. (more…)
